I ask each of you to please go into your profile and put your name, including maiden, if you are a female ... additionally, please put the year you graduated from Dunn High School ... and if you will, include where you are currently residing.
It is fine if you do not want to add a photo or an avatar, but it will certainly be beneficial to all if you ladies will include you maiden name.
Thank you so much, and I look forward to gabbing as much as I can.

According to Irene Dixon a Greenwave is a "TEAM" (of MORE than ONE) that "roll(s) ole Clinton in the sod, oh so hard" or a Greenwave is also the ENTIRE student body (i.e. ALL of the students comprise just ONE Greenwave) of old Dunn High School.

Thanks to whoever did the DHS videos. I watched each one of them and it brought back a lot of memories. I actually saw one of my old lockers! If we only realized back then how time flies, do you think we would have done anything differently?

The class of 1953 had a great time this past weekend (May 23rd and 24th). with 60 attending. We had a gathering at The Gallery on Friday evening thanks to Guyton ( Walt) and Martha Smith. Martha did a great job preparing for this event, and we had a great time with 30 attending. We had breakfast at The Milestone on Saturday morning with 20 attending. Sarah Titchener had a small group for lunch for her mother, Libby Raynor Pope, at the Cracker Barrell. Libby's sister, Shirley Raynor Smith, joined us. The main event on Saturday evening at Triangle South was wonderful. Shirley and Lacy Massey prepared our meal and it was delicious and the decorations were perfect (done in green and white). Frank Campbell, Becky Lee Edmunds and Doug Overman all came from Virginia. Sonny Carr flew in from New York. It was a GREAT weekend! We have had a reunion every 5 years since 1953 but will have our next one in three years. Faye Monds Upchurc h (class of "53)

After reviewing Tart's photos to use, I had forgotten that one member of that 1960 Rat Pack was missing from the athletic arena ... Who? His initials are CHP, aka, Bubba!!!
During the DHSF February Reunion, when all Peay's buddies were being recognized for their DHS athletic contributions, Bubba was hurt. He kept saying that when Academia was recognized, he would be the first DHS alum to be called on stage.
Unkowing to Peay, he would be presented a major award, that night, that would thrust him in the DHS archives in a major way.
The committee thanks Paul White for suggesting we recognize Peay in such an appropriate way. Bubba is such a modest person and did not want me to broad cast his accomplishment. I, for one, cannot let a deserving person go without recognition and letting you know that Bubba Peay was presented THE SHORTEST DHS JOCK STRAP AWARD. His "strap" has been retired never to be worn again by anyone ... EVER! Peay was ecstatic. Wouldn't you be?
He graciously donated his award for display at Harnett Primary School as inspiration for the "little" guys in first grade. Peay hopes this will be incentive "to go for the gold" when they become high school seniors.
More, later ... Ah Me

What a wonderful day we had Thursday, 22 May, 2008, celebrating the life of Willie Knox Tart.
As some of you know, Bubba, Kathy and and I met Paul White and Eddie Coats in Raleigh to go together. Kathy, Paul and myself ended up in the backseat of Peay's 2008 Camry, and Bubba drove with Coats riding shot gun. Needless to say, we three in the back seat were deprived of several things ... air conditioning and bathroom facilities. Any lady reading this can feel the pain. It was excruciating, to say the least.
One hundred "war" stories were told and we laughed so hard it brought tears to our eyes. I wish the day could have been recorded. Bubba was his dry, humorous self; and we continually battled each other, sarcastically, in the way we always do. Coats kept saying that it was a good thing Bubba and I were kin, or we would have each other killed. (How much do I love you, Bub, let me count the ways.)
A particular moment of jocularity was exiting for Randleman. A green sign on the side of the road read ~ High Point (on top) and Climax (underneath) ~ Bubba's quick tongue immediately spit out ... "Coats, we haven't experienced either one of those lately, have we?
Will end with that for the time being ... More later ... Ah Me

Yes, Susan, he was the best, wasn't he? Actually, Tart was a very humble person, as you probably recall. Lydia told me after the service Thursday that the two things he loved best of all was DHS and Elon!
