AhMe Where's Peay? 0 May 27 2008, 11:49 AM EDT by AhMe

After reviewing Tart's photos to use, I had forgotten that one member of that 1960 Rat Pack was missing from the athletic arena ... Who? His initials are CHP, aka, Bubba!!!

During the DHSF February Reunion, when all Peay's buddies were being recognized for their DHS athletic contributions, Bubba was hurt. He kept saying that when Academia was recognized, he would be the first DHS alum to be called on stage.

Unkowing to Peay, he would be presented a major award, that night, that would thrust him in the DHS archives in a major way.

The committee thanks Paul White for suggesting we recognize Peay in such an appropriate way. Bubba is such a modest person and did not want me to broad cast his accomplishment. I, for one, cannot let a deserving person go without recognition and letting you know that Bubba Peay was presented THE SHORTEST DHS JOCK STRAP AWARD. His "strap" has been retired never to be worn again by anyone ... EVER! Peay was ecstatic. Wouldn't you be?

He graciously donated his award for display at Harnett Primary School as inspiration for the "little" guys in first grade. Peay hopes this will be incentive "to go for the gold" when they become high school seniors.

More, later ...
